The Simien Mountains National Park is one of Africa's most spectacular mountain ranges, with jagged peaks, deep valleys, and sheer cliffs dropping up to 1,500 meters. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is often called the "Roof of Africa" and offers some of the continent's most breathtaking scenery.
The park is home to several endemic species, including the Gelada baboon (often called the "bleeding-heart baboon"), the Walia ibex, and the Ethiopian wolf. Early mornings are the best time to spot wildlife, particularly around Sankaber and Chenek campsites.
